The National Scout Air Rifle Championships has always had the synonym "Walton Firs" and that name will long be connected with the championships. It`s sad to leave but the future is bright for Scout shooting at Bisley, with the fantastic facilities available to us in the Lord Roberts Centre and the good offices of the National Smallbore Rifle Association together with the help of the National Rifle Association.
Many thanks to Bryan Jackson & Jasper Gooding for running the camp over the weekend and getting the lads to the right range at the right time.
With a reduced team plus Robert and Pierre moving up an age group we always would be hard pressed to repeat last year's success. But we didn't return empty handed, Robert Chester and Pierre Reader giving us a 1–2 in the Senior Own Rifle (recoiling) and Robert Alderman taking a silver in the Under 14's Six Yard Rifle. We were only a gnat's whisker from more metalwork too with Robert Alderman being squeezed out of the medals by one point on the tie break in the Junior Air Pistol and taking 2nd in the Ken White Trophy (a competitions that awards only Gold!)
Full details will appear in the next issue of DownRange to be published shortly. Pictures are available now in the Picture Gallery, or take a look at the full results on the HSRC web site.
The 29th Championships will take place at Bisley over the weekend of 14th — 16th October 2005.
