Yet another event organised and run by Liphook Scout Rifle Club. Having had a successful first event last year we were "badgered" into putting on another. We were very lucky with the weather with reports of heavy rain all around us but the field stayed mercifully dry. Two new events were introduced this year, the long range event, and the snooker event, both of which proved very popular.
In the main event, Robert Chester and Alan Burgess won Gold and Silver respectively for Liphook in the Junior section - we came close to a clean sweep here with Toby Galtress taking part in the shootoff for Bronze. Matt Carrig won us the Bronze in the Seniors.
We had little joy in the own rifle, with our friends from Yateley, Meon Valley and Harrow pushing us well down the table. That said, Robert Hyndman and Robert Alderman would have won Gold and Silver if the event had been split into age groups, perhaps next year?
Rebeka Pidgley of Meon Valley put on a masterful performance using iron sights in the long range against everybody else's diopters and scopes. Her Gold is well deserved. Liphook shooters Matt Carrig, Alan Burgess, Toby Galtress, Robert Hyndman and Robert Alderman were all well up the table beating many National Squad members.
The Snooker event was introduced as a competitive fun event. Pierre Reader and Matt Carrig took 2nd and 3rd place, shame there was only hardware for 1st. Other Liphook shooters also figured highly in the results. I foresee this event being fiercely contended in the future as shooters begin to appreciate the tactical element it includes.

Entry this year was down from approximately 65 to 50. We have put this down to the earlier date & will be returning to the first weekend in July next year. The field is booked, put it in your diaries now - Saturday & Sunday 2nd & 3rd July.
